متن کاملÉloge on the Late Dr. Milne Murray
Professor Simpson, Vice-President, read the following telegram from Dr Brewis:?" Teneriffe.?Please express at meeting President's sorrow for Society's loss," and said:?In the absence of our President the sorrowful duty falls on me to try to say something as to the sense we all feel of the loss, the great loss, the Society has sustained through the death of Dr Milne Murray. متن کاملThe Milne problem with a force term
We study the stationary half-space linearized Boltzmann equation with a force term decaying to zero at infinity. We extend to this case the results of Bardos, Caflisch and Nicolaenko for a gas of hard spheres without external force, namely we prove existence, uniqueness and asymptotic properties of the solution. Our analysis includes the case of hard potentials.

We analyze the spectrum of the bosonic and superstring on the orbifold of the spacetime by a boost, leading to the cosmological singularity. We show that the modular invariance leads to the spectrum where the twisted sector tachyon, together with all other twisted sector fields, present in the Euclidean version of the orbifold, is absent. This makes impossible to resolve the singularity by a ma...
